Waitressing is being responsible for bringing food and drinks to a bunch of whining, complaining people who will run you ragged, treat you like crap (ever been whistled at like a dog?) and will leave you with a dollar on a $50 tab.

Waitressing is having a bad night and only being able to do one of two things: feed your kids or pay the light bill ("Suck on an outlet kids, 'cuz that's dinner.")

Waitressing is having people angry with you because : the weather is lousy: there were no places left 10 feet from the front door; the hostess is mentally challenged and just sat five tables that had to wait 40 minutes, rather than the 10 minutes she promised; the kitchen has just burnt to the ground and the food orders are a little backed up.

And it's ALL YOUR FAULT. And even if you perform sexual favors under the table, the tip is shot to hell.

Yup, that's waitressing.

waitressing is different from being a server in my experience. waitressing is serving in a diner, "what would you like to drink?" bring drinks "what are going to eat?" bring out the food (all carried in the arms), Check on the customer once then bring them the bill. Serving is suggesting things on the menu, such as a wine or a special you would think they like, offering salad, sides for their dishes bringing out a bread basket, preforming a wine service when they order a bottle, basically catering to them. But both are extremely hard work, and its true most of the time you don't make a lot of money doing it.

harder than ppl think it is...

it would be great if ppl knew how to tip accordingly (waitstaff in some states are EXPECTED to make a certain amount and have to claim that no matter what they actually make...so the "optional" tipping thing, is bs.)

and it would also be nice if ppl would understand that they are not the only table in the restaurant that the server is waiting on, and if you have to wait 10 secs for your drink when its busy...dont throw a damn fit.

i love most of the ppl i wait on...but theres always that 10% that could just piss off any server!
