I work at a manufacturing company so having an outing isn't an option. This must be in house. We have about a hundred employees and we operate with shifts having 24 hour coverage. 7AM - 3 PM; 3PM - 11 PM; 11PM - 7 AM.

Typically in the past we've had holiday dinners where we cater food in. I play holiday music and have some sort of prize give away for the holiday trivia winner. I'd like to change it up this year. Has anyone done anything really neat at their businesses?

If we give always presents what is something really cool (but affordable...say $20 each) that people would like to receive?

Pin the tail on the boss.

The winner of thie recieves a $25.00 Bonus.

Also if you are in Manufaturing then have a MAnufacturing game like, Mixed Drinks, using Soda and Grenadine, one person prensts the glass, the next adds Soda, the next adds Grenadine, The next person carries to a table, A group Drinks then one carries back and one washes. The teams that can mix drink and wash the most wins Bonus!

Bringing in catering would be required but to step it up a notch why not do some sort of game/activity?

How about an activity like Horseracing or Casino night?

You rent a kit for your size of group and it comes with everything you need and you just have to buy some prizes....For Example last year we did the horseracing at one of our events and it was a total hit! You get a dvd in the kit along with racing programs, odds boards, betting tickets, etc. We even made our own 'money' with our managers' pictures on each denomination! This really personalized the game. We gave all the big winners prizes. Then we did random drawings of everyone else so everybody had a chance for a prize....

We rented from 'A Night at the Races' - at www.nightattheraces.com and here is another company I found: http://www.customhorseracepartykit.com

I totally recommend it because it gets everyone up and around mingling and everyone is involved.

Hope you have a good time!

To receive presents: I would say like a gift certificate to a nice restaurant or store.

Crafty Ideas: Get like a karaoke machine (that can SO be fun!!!) Maybe a catering from a yummy but easy-to-get-to restaurant. I would say the dessert tray from chick-fil-a but what-ever you decide. What Holiday is it going to be?

Christmas: Fake talking Santa

Halloween: Scary talking witch

(these could be someone in a costume)

You get the point. I hope this helped.

Good Luck!!! Have Fun!!!!! -Madison T

I planned ours last year - also had to be in-house, for about 80 employees. We catered dinner in, decorated for festivity, gave everyone a disposable camera to take pictures of the night, and had a comedic magician perform. I know initially that sounds a bit cheesy, but the "magician" was more comedian than magician and was very funny. (He came to my office and did a demo performance - about 15 minutes long, before we booked him. I had two other people sit in to guage the entertainment level.) His performance was interactive so the audience was loving it and all executives agreed ahead of time to be lightly teased as the butt of a joke or two...it was hilarious, relaxing, and everyone kind of bonded over the evening.

Icebreaker activities are always a hit, too. People may grumble at first, but if you choose the right one (humor, quick to do, etc...), you'll be the star!

Best of luck - I know the pressure to make it great and I feel your pain! (:

If you have to do it at your facility. You could still do the catering of food but bring in some entertainment. We had a magician once.
