My daughter is turning 18 in April, and she wants to do something since really special since she hasn't had a real birthday party since she 14 or 15. She was thinking of laser tag or bowling, but is afraid it's too childish. She was also thinking of doing a henna party, but we're also in the middle of moving so we can't do anything located in our home. Add that to a tight budget, and it's been really difficult. Help?

Bowling is always fun. Call around and find a bowling alley where you could bring in your own pizzas or sandwich assort. trays. A few things that make a bowling party is "Rock-n-Roll" bowling...where they turn down the lights fairly low...the pins glow in "black light" and they crank up the rock music. See if they have that anywhere. Also, she could do a few things to add some more fun to the mix:

-Crazy Costume Bowling...make it a costume party

-"The Curve Ball"...so all you do is bowl as you normally would...place everyone's name (in a hat) that's bowling. Pick a name and then they must take their next turn bowling...blindfolded. Help them out a bit so no one gets hurt. They don't walk around with the blindfold on. They just have to put it on just before they bowl. This can be really funny.

-High score "prizes"...low score "prizes"-Find some inexpensive "reward items" for them.

I went to dinner with my friends and brought a cake.

i invited my friends and they paid for their own meal (unless you pick up the tab) no parents or adults just the teenagers. and then she would just take the cake with her and when its time for cake do the happy birthday song or just cut it and pass it out.

Its a mature party but not a party more like a celebration. she gets to feel like an adult you don't have to manage any rowdy teenagers and everyone has fun. its a win win.

also she can have it be a formal type thing were guys have to wear a nice button shirt and girls can wear a dress. their teenagers they'll take pictures on their phones so you'll get to see their fun night!

If she thinks laser tag is too childish, then maybe paintball? That may be expensive though. A giant water balloon/squirt gun fight in the park would be cool, pair that with color dust used in Indian celebrations, and it goes from childish to artsy and colorful.
