Question:
I'm having a house party for my 18th birthday?

I've been thinking for a long time now about what to do for my 18th. I was going to go out to a club with all my friends but we're all going to be broke. There is 4 other 18th birthday 'outings' before mine in the same month. So by the time it comes to mine, everyone will be too broke to come. Or so I think anyway.
Plan B is to have a big house party. My parents have given me the house while they go to Donegal with the dogs for my birthday weekend. They know and understand exactly what house parties are like, and they are ready for the consequences. So its just me and my sister (15) in the house for my birthday weekend.

Okay, my problem is that I've never hosted a house party before, so I don't really know what to do. I've been to lots of house parties before, but I'm pretty stressed out about hosting.

My house is a decent size, we have a big back garden. We will almost all be drinking. I will definitely be drinking ;D
It's going to be in November in northern Ireland, so it'll most likely be wet forcing everyone inside. Except the smokers.

Any advice on how to have a good house party where everyone will have fun?
What time should its start, I don't want it too early? Should I have food, or what? Music? What do I wear? I don't want to be over dressed but I love dressing up? EPPP. How do I get people to come, rules?

HELP MEH

Thankies

This is my area of expertise :L

I had an epic house party for my 18th. It's all about making a good atmosphere. Have a mixture of songs, save the epic more dancey song until after 11ish when everyone is good and drunk. Start at 8ish, then people will come at 9. Yes to food, but easy, finger food like crisps etc. As for clothes, if you want a dress up, pick a theme that has a large selection of ideas within it. I had 'American', so people came as like cowboys, cheeleaders, jocks, uncle sam, hilbillies, gangsters etc. Look on dress up websites for ideas.

Also, another tip is if you have like one large room to centralise the party in, move the furniture to the side/ out of the room to make more space. And hide things that could get broken, like picture frames, delicate ornaments, dvds etc :L

Have fun

Check out evite.com. They have tons of ideas.

- Finger food of different kinds, absolutely.

- A variety of drinks, not just one staple.

- You can set up a large tent for the outdoors (it's not that hard, some PVC and tarps that lay over the structure).

- Some people like grilled food, so that's an option

- Music, absolutely

- Games, some of them can be drinking games and/or force people to intermingle

- Campfire if that's legal where you live

- If the yard is beg enough, tell people to bring their own tents if they want to for sleeping over

- If you are broke, you can make it a byob party (bring your own beer) or a potluck (bring your own snack/food)

But those are just basic things. There are so many other ideas out there. Try evite and see what you find. The site is free.

watch project x! they didn't know how to do anything they just had fun but don't do everything they did! Xp your party should start 9 even though no one will come at that time and the party should finnish around 2 or when everybody starts to leaving .Make sure you have lots to drink and for food it could just be snack like chips, nuts and etc. The music? play what you know everybody listens to and just where something you're convertible in be yourself and you'll have fun :)

it will be a total success as long as there's good people and alot of alcohol lol. Just make sure you setup security cameras so when some if the women/girls get violated, it's all documented on their behalf.

Have good music, (depending on the genre of your friends)

Have chips, dip, (google "party food list") and you'll find what you are looking for. Given below is a list of food that can be prepared without much hassle; •Toasted brioche with marinated vegetables

•Cheese and herb stuffed potatoes

•Mini pigs in blankets

•Quesadillas

•Crostini topped with caviar

•Sliders

•Chicken spring rolls

•Smoked salmon

•Bacon wrapped sausages

•Mini hot dogs

•Eggplant caponata

•Bruschetta made with tomato and mint

•Oysters with lime butter

•Coconut shrimp with minty mango dip

•Cucumber sandwiches

•Mini bagels with toppings

•Parmesan stuffed mushroom

•Meat balls

•Mini crab cakes

•Fried seafood wonton

•Crab salad canapes

•Corn dogs

•Deviled eggs

•Salami and cream cheese rolls

•Chicken satay

•Breadsticks

•Macaroni and cheese cups

•Cracker sandwiches

•Pretzels and hummus

•Parmesan zucchini sticks

•Mini goat cheese and tomato pizza

•Spicy tuna tartar

•Chicken nuggets

have music outside too, maybe you can get a band to play promising them free beer and food and recognition. (carefull..that could draw the cops depending on your neighbors)

have a pancho party if it rains (have a bunch of panchos everyone has to put on if it starts raining, then everyone does a rain dance shot of whiskey every time someone says (happy birthday)

rules: don't start drama, 1 warning, 2 strikes and you're out. 0 tolerance for repeat offenders.

OK babe, here it goes.

Start at 8PM.. noone will show til nine, which gives plenty of time for drinking. Most will leave before 1pm, which means less than 5 hgours of most people in your home...

Drinks, and food... should be bar food.. chips, pretzels, peanuts, pizza, hotdogs burgers...

Music? Yeah, I tune it to pandora, top 40 adult hits... Most can't complain... Wear? Something sexy. It's your zarking birthday! Show some leg!

I like fruits over vegetables because I feel that fruits just feel "fresher" somehow.
