Hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, chips and dips, watermelon, anything on that order.

Swim, play volley ball, badminton, a trampoline is good, throw water balloons, etc.

Come to a back to school pool party.

Time:

Place:

Don't forget to bring your swimsuit and towel.

I would suggest the typical all-American hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, dip, vegetable plates and ranch. Also, this may seem odd but a friend of mine always serves taquitos (beef or chicken rolled into a tortilla in a stick form) at her pool parties. You can even get these frozen at Costco or other grocery stores. I definitely recommend them they are absolutely delicious!=]

As for the activities, definitely have cool, up-to-date music, karaoke, volleyball, and any other fun things that your friends usually do. Make sure you think of some activities for the non-sport playing guests, I can sympathize with them =)

And the invitations, you can never go wrong with a simple statement that covers the point of the party such as:

Come join us for an unforgettable pool party to celebrate the end of the summer!

But most of all, relax! You will have a great time. Enjoy!

A pool party is incomplete without grills and barbecue (make sure there's a grown up). Hotdogs, burgers, steaks (if it fits the budget), chicken kebabs on skewers. If you're going to have burgers and hotdogs, you can lay out the buns, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, condiments etc at the table so everyone can go with their preference. Finger foods, too (like chips and dip, onion rings, mozarella sticks). For drinks: soda, lemonade, non-alcoholic party punch. Have some boom box around (one of your friends can be the DJ)! This way, some people can dance. Invitation: Occasion, Date, Place, RSVP. Remember that it need not be an expensive party - just chill out and have fun!

Food:

Mamie's Famous Cheese Wafers (mamieswafers.com)

Chips and 5 layer dip (salsa, sour cream, melted cheese, guacomole, fritos)

Pretzels

Lots of soft drinks and waters (maybe even some bottled green teas if y'all like those)

Activities:

Music and limbo stick (broom)

Lots of chairs (even if just lawn chairs) set up for people to chat

If you have one (or u get someone to bring one), you could have an x-box or something set up right inside for anyone who wants to play that---but that kinda defeats the purpose of a pool party

Really if you just have the mood right, you don't need too much extra stuff. Just make it so guests can feel comfortable and relaxed, and make the atmosphere festive. Could maybe even thrown in a pinata!! Have fun and best of luck :)

Have your parents man the grill. Hamburgers, hotdogs. Have plenty of music that won't drive your parents buggy. Plenty of water, soda, chips, dips. If no one wants to swim, have a video game set up, some board games and have little trinkets for the winners. You could have a big poster board set up and everyone could write their fave summer memory. Invites could say:: Last summer blast, come share some munchies, games and memories or something like that. Don't fret, you'll have a great party. Have fun and set a time limit. Some people don't know when to go home...

Food: Pizza Or BBQ (hot dogs, hamburgers and stuff)

Chips. Veggies and Dip. Watermelon. For dessert you could do a cake if you want or do a ice cream sundae bar.

Activities: whenever I have pool parties all my friends always want to just hangout in the pool. But its nice to have a few things to do in case. you could set up a volleyball net and get some water balloons . lay out towels/ chairs for people to relax on. And you could set up a drink stand and have one of your parents/siblings stand behind it and you can have sodas/virgin pina coladas and virgin strawberry dacaries and stuff. Get some beach balls and stuff.

good luck and i'm sure your party will be great.

Well if no one wants to swim, they'll just mingle/eat/and such. For music- Have your friends make a really cool playlist of this summer's hit.

For food- Lots of chips and dips, pretzels, cookies, and junk like that. Order some pizza and have lots of pop.

Other activites- You guys can limbo! That's always fun. At huge parties like this, you can't make everyone do one activity, so as long as you have food and music people will break off into their own group.

HAVE FUN! :)

chips, hot dogs, cheeseburgers, pizza, mac/potato salad ... honestly i always loved fruit so you could do like a fruit salad ...

ping pong tourney when i was a kid ... which turns into beer pong when you're older. sounds lame but within minutes people are all into the ping pong tourney - no matter what the age! (and you could play doubles)

tell your friends to bring their favorite music on mixes. you can play them, share music ... all that fun cheap stuff. plus people usually start singing all their favorite songs and want to dj ... it ends up being fun (again no matter what the age although alc. is usually involved when you get older - as well as older songs)

my friends and i also love putting together a game of some sort: starts as toubh football, ends up being a weird form of Calvin Ball where it's every man for himself.

have fun! i wish i was a kid again.

the invitations could just be something about partying the summer away/ starting the school year off a blast!

First and foremost I understand they are kids but that is not what they want to hear so the invitation will have to be more adult like but not to old. I would think that most 13-17 year old are on http://www.myspace.com/ or have e-mail addresses so I would send out an invite that way save the paper and be creative it is 2007. My space has a category on the top of the page that says "Events" Click that and go to the left side of page under "Events Links" click then Create New Event. Then you can invite everyone from you Daughters/sons friends list and they can then pass it down "FREE" no cost to you.

Know for the entertainment ask you kids or kid if there are any local friends in a band and if so ask them to perform for the party. Most likely they will do it for free so get on the ball with that ASAP. If that does not work out try finding a local DJ or again a child's friend that is into DJing and see if you can have them perform for you. Know for last resort have kids friends make a CD with their favorite groups on it and play that. Again another Free and easy idea.

Activities to do try playing volleyball in the pool and water balloon toss in or out of pool. Play "Cornhole" the game with the bean bags and the box with the hole in it check here http://www.playcornhole.org/whatis.shtml. You could do a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood asking people for different items. They can play this will you are cooking on the grill if you choice to cook on a grill. Other ideas I do not have right know so email me and I may be able to think of some new ideas.

Know for the food you could go the route of cooking burgers and hot dogs but I think that is boring and time consuming plus you might want to keep an eye on the party not the grill. Great idea "Walking Tacos" buy small lunch size bags of "Doritos" then a couple of pounds of ground beef cook and add taco seasoning, big bottle of salsa, sour cream, and shredded lettuce. Set out and let the guest make their own "Walking Tacos" You just put the ingritents in the "Dorito" bag and eat out of it with a plastic fork. You can make chicken skewers and have various dipping sauces, make them the day of or the night before. Chicken fingers work to. Chips and dip always work for any party our choice on the chips no matter what they will be eaten. Pizza is another set out and selfserve item. No worries with that everyone loves pizza. I would not go crazy over the food choices most kids I know are not to picky when it comes to party food. Also do not buy a cake because then you have to cut it and serve it buy or make cupcakes again another set out and selfserve item. Plus I hate to have to hold a cup of beer "I mean punch" and try to eat me cake in the other hand. Always try to do onehanded items for these type of party your other hand will most likely be busy doing something else like playing a game.

I hope this will begin to help you out with the party. Remember do not get overwelmed

I would definately do sandwiches. If you have a Sam's Club or Costco around you can get premade trays of rolled-up sandwiches, sushi, etc. that would be nice. But also BBQ hamburgers and hotdogs. And order some fried chicken from a good chicken place...also you can get some cole slaw and potatos there to serve as sides.

Hang a sheet up and use a projector to watch the movie JAWS. Invite your guests float on the pool inflatables while they watch. (Then you can get some friends to swim underneath and scare them in the middle of the movie).
